The Eldar Herbal Unguent is a smooth and creamy balm created for skin seeking relief from dry skin and harsh weather. The active ingredients within the formula have soothing properties, and can be used on all skin types to protect the skin’s moisture barrier. Tested in the dry climate of Alberta, only a small amount is needed to lock in hydration from watery essences, serums or lotions, while also providing a smooth base for makeup application.

The consistency of this product tends to change with the weather, and melts on contact with the skin in the summer and is a little more firm in the winter. When absorbed the skin feels smooth and not greasy.

Cupuacu Butter:

Apart of the theobroma fruit family like cacao, cupuacu has a tart, white-chocolate-smell and an emollient texture with water-sealing properties. Unlike cocoa butter, cupuacu is a lot more forgiving to oily, acne-prone skin, and is less likely to clog pores. Because of it’s silicone-like finish, cupuacu acts as a great base for makeup application. This butter is also rich in phytosterols: naturally occuring molecules similar to cholesterol that can provide soothing and moisturizing benefits to the skin.

Kokum Butter:

Kokum butter comes from the seed of the red mangosteen fruit. It is a very hard butter, and yet it melts easily upon contact with the skin. Its texture is thin and provides slip to formulas, and helps protect the consistency of Nightgloom from temperature increases.Kokum is rich in antioxidants which aid the skin in recovering after oxidative stress, such as contact with pollution, dry, cold air, and excess UV exposure. It is an ideal ingredient for products geared towards oily, acne-prone skin due to being lightweight and non-greasy.

Meadowfoam Oil:

Meadowfoam seed oil is an extremely gentle oil, and comes from a tiny white and yellow flower apart of the mustard family. It is native to Vancouver Island, and is grown as an oilseed crop in other parts of the country. Due to its powerful antioxidant composition and stability, meadowfoam is commonly added into blends alongside oils that have a shorter shelf life.

Pomegranate Oil: Cold-pressed pomegranate seed oil is rich in punicic acid, a rare omega-5 fatty acid known for its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Properties of this oil include defending the skin against environmental stressors, while supporting collagen production and improving skin elasticity. Its thick, nourishing texture creates a protective barrier that locks in moisture without clogging pores, making it especially beneficial for dry, mature, or sensitive skin.

HOW TO USE

A little goes a long way!

With a clean utensil, scoop less than a pea-sized amount of the jar. Place the balm in the palm of hands, rub together and press evenly into the skin as the last step in your skin care routine.

This balm makes for a great base to makeup and can be easily mixed with a regular face cream to enhance absorption.

STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE

Keep container away from contact with moisture, excess heat, and direct sunlight. Please use a clean utensil to remove product from the jar and sanitize the utensil regularly to prevent germs from getting trapped within the jar. Pay close attention to the smell, look and colour of the balm, and if things start to smell rancid or the colour turns towards a brown-like orange, discontinue use immediately. With proper storage and handling, a shelf-life of 10+ month is expected.
